ONLINE VISA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

AND PROCEDURES


Please Read Carefully:

ASIDE FROM THE VISA FEE PAID ONLINE, processing fees for all services provided by the embassy outside the mission is $100.00 (effective March 1, 2012). All money orders should be made payable to the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, D.C.

REQUIREMENTS FOR NIGERIAN BUSINESS VISA

All visa applications and payment of fees are to be made through the Nigeria immigration Website at https:portal://immigration.gov.ng.  After filling the online form, print out the form and submit. Proceed to the payments section and make the payment. Be sure to print out confirmation of payment and attach to the application. These documents should be mailed to the Embassy with a PROCESSING FEE of $30.00 per applicant, in money order addressed to the Embassy of Nigeria. If expedited service is required, the processing fee is $85.00 in money order (made payable to the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington DC).

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR BUSINESS VISA

  • Current Passport (with at least 6 months validity)
  • Completed visa application form
  • Confirmation of online payment
  • 2 passport size pictures
  • Letter of invitation from Host Company, in Nigeria, accepting full immigration and financial responsibility as well as stating purpose of visit (and duration of stay)
  • Letter of introduction from Applicant's company or organization
  • Holders of non–US passports must provide proof of legal residency (photocopy of green card, or resident visa)
  • Copy of airline ticket or flight itinerary (WHERE APPLICABLE).

REQUIREMENTS FOR NIGERIAN TEMPORARY WORK PERMIT (TWP) VISA

All visa applications and payment of fees are to be made through the Nigeria immigration Website at https:portal://immigration.gov.ng. These documents should be mailed to the Embassy with a PROCESSING FEE of $100.00 per applicant, in money order addressed to the Embassy of Nigeria. If expedited service is required, the processing fee is $165.00 in money order (made payable to the Embassy of Nigeria).

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR TWP VISA

  • Current Passport (with at least 6 months validity)
  • Completed visa Application form
  • Confirmation of online payment
  • 2 passport size pictures
  • Copy of Comptroller general of immigration Approval cable visa that lists the applicant’s name
  • Letter of introduction from Host organization in Nigeria
  • Cover letter from the US company sending employee
  • Holders of non US passport must provide proof of legal residency (photocopy of green card)
    • Copy of airline ticket or flight itinerary (WHERE APPLICABLE)
    • Formal application from Host Company in Nigeria, attaching a copy of the work order indication the exact job to be performed by the expert.
    • Copy of certificate of incorporation of Host Company in Nigeria.

REQUIREMENTS FOR STR (SUBJECT TO REGULARIZATION) VISA

These documents should be mailed to the Embassy with a PROCESSING FEE of $223.00 per applicant, in money order addressed to the Embassy of Nigeria. If expedited service is required, the processing fee is $288.00 in money order (made payable to the Embassy of Nigeria).

  • Current Passport (with at least 6 months validity)
  • 4 Completed visa application forms
  • 4 Copies of confirmation of online payment
  • 4 passport size pictures
  • 4 Copies of employment offer letters
  • 4 Copies of acceptance of employment letters
  • 4 Copies of Nigerian Immigration approval quota
  • 4 Copies of resume, degrees, and certificates earned
  • Holders of non–US passports must provide proof of legal residency (photocopy of green card)
  • The documents should be arranged into 4 sets. Each set must include the above mentioned documents.
  • 4 copies certificate of incorporation of the Nigerian company.
  • 4 copies of company memorandum & article association
  • 4 copies of corporate affairs particulars of directors and their shear holdings thereof: (CAC FORMS 2 & 7)
  • 4 Copies of business permit issued by the Ministry of interior (for companies that have foreign shareholders)
  • Copy of current monthly quota utilization returns as endorsed by the Immigration Service.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 16 &ACCOMPANING SPOUSE

Applicants under the age of 16 (sixteen) that are accompanying parents or guardians may neglect items 5 through 14. Applicants must provide the following requirements in addition to the standard requirements stated above.

  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Marriage license in case of accompanying spouse
  • Signed letters of consent from both parents
  • Photocopies of the parents’ passports (bio-data page) or valid ID MUST accompany the application.

REQUIREMENTS FOR NIGERIAN TOURIST VISA

All visa applications and payment of fees are to be made through the Nigeria immigration Website at https:portal://immigration.gov.ng.  After filling the online form, print out the form and submit. Proceed to the payments section and make the payment. Be sure to print out confirmation of payment and attach to the application. These documents should be mailed to the Embassy with a PROCESSING FEE of $30.00, per applicant, in money order addressed to the Embassy of Nigeria. If expedited service is required, the processing fee is $85.00 in money order (made payable to the Embassy of Nigeria).

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR TOURIST VISA

  • Current Passport (with at least 6 months validity)
  • Completed visa application form
  • Confirmation of online payment
  • 2 passport size pictures
  • Letter of invitation from host accepting full immigration responsibility
  • Data page of host Passport,
  • Confirmed Hotel reservation, if the applicant is not staying with host.
  • Evidence of funds to cover stay in Nigeria (letter from bank etc.)
  • Holders of non–US passports must provide proof of legal residency (photocopy of green card)
  • Copy of airline ticket or flight itinerary.(WHERE APPLICABLE).

MAILING INSTRUCTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that all Applicants submitting applications for visa by mail and those requesting endorsement of valid documents are henceforth required to enclose a self-addressed PREPAID USPS EXPRESS MAIL return envelope. The Embassy will no longer accept (nor process) mailed-in visa applications or valid documents that contravene this instruction.

EMBASSY DROP OFF & COLLECTION

The Embassy of Nigeria, Washington D.C. Visa Office is open for drop off and collection from Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. In the alternative, Applicants may come for collection only on Friday between 11:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m.
