NEW POSTINGS AT EMBASSY

New officers have assumed duties at the Nigerian Embassy, Washington to replace outgoing officers who have completed their duty tours.

Group Captain Adebiyi Okanlawon becomes the new Defence and Air Adviser while Commander Gabriel Okoi is the new Naval Attaché.

The new Defence Adviser is a professional pilot with postgraduate flight training in Germany, France and Great Britain. A graduate of Air Command and Staff College, Air University in Montgomery Alabama, National Defence University of the Peoples Republic of China Beijing, Group Captain Okanlawon was before his current assignment Command Training Officer at Headquarters Training Command, Kaduna, Nigeria. He had seen combat in Liberia and Sierra Leone and has been decorated with the Armed Forces Service Star Meritorious Service Star and ECOMOG distinguished Service Medal.

Commander Gabriel Okoi on the other hand is a member of U.S. Naval Institute and a recipient of the Forces Service Star (FSS) and Pass Staff College Dagger (psc+).

He served as Military Observer (United Nations Mission) in Kuwait from 1993-94 and was Staff Officer Grade 1 (Navy) to the Honourable Minister of Defence before his present appointment.

Other postings include Mr. N.A. Njoku Financial Attaché, Mr. Orevba Senior Counsellor and Head of Protocol Unit, Mrs. L. Akinkuole Counsellor (Commercial), Mrs. Eniabamo, Mr. A.O. Babalola and Mrs. M.C. Ekeocha, all Administrative Attaches.
