2003 Inauguration Program Released

The 2003 Presidential Inauguration Ceremonies Committee has released a programme of major activities, that will usher in new administrations in Nigeria on May 29, 2003.

The programme will take-off officially on Friday May 23, 2003 with a special Jumat service at the National Mosque in Abuja. This will be followed by Christian Prayers in churches throughout the Federation on Sunday May 25, 2003. Other highlights of the programme, include the inaugural lecture, the cultural/musical festival and fireworks display, all of which are scheduled for Wednesday May 28, 2003.

The swearing-in ceremony will hold at the Eagle Square in Abuja on Thursday May 29, 2003 and will last four-hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The day will be closed by an inauguration dinner and gala night which will take place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Other major events of the inauguration programme include the novelty football match in the afternoon of Friday May 30, 2003 and the Inaugural Ball holding from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the same day. The programme will be concluded with a Christian Thanksgiving and Dedication Service which will be held at the International Conference Centre on Saturday May 31, 2003 beginning from 9:00 a.m.
