Obasanjo Condoles Kano Crash Victims
President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday in a national broadcast expressed heart-felt condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives as passengers, crew members and victims on the ground in the Saturday crash of the EAS aircraft in Kano.
The President who cut short his official visit to Southern Africa because of the accident confirmed in the broadcast that One Hundred and Six (106) people have so far been confirmed dead.
He promised immediate and detailed investigations to ascertain the cause of the accident and to prevent a reoccurrence.
Yesterday, Sunday May 5 and today Monday May 6, 2002 have been declared as days of national mourning in memory of the deceased while all flags will fly at half-mast throughout the country.
