President Assures of Violence-Free Elections

President Olusegun Obasanjo in his new year broadcast to the nation on January 1, 2003 has assured Nigerians, that his administration is determined to do all within its power in dealing with all cases of violence and disruption in the forthcoming general elections.

He observed that contrary to a picture of gloom and doom predicted by skeptics, the primaries and congresses by the political parties have been devoid of violence. He enjoined all Nigerians to pray for peace and stability so that the nation may stay on the path of progress.

According to President Obasanjo the outlook of the economy in the year 2003, is brighter than that of the immediate past. He promised that his government will discharge its obligations in enhancing the quality of life of all Nigerians. The President wised all Nigerians a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
